LARRY J. CRUZ Award


A Culinary Achievement Award. This will also be the first time that HRAP will confer a special award for exemplary achievement of an individual to perpetuate Larry J. Cruz’s exemplary achievement in the culinary field and entrepreneurship, has brought honour to the Philippines and which serves as an inspiration to the food service industry.


Lorenzo "Larry" J. Cruz

(September 17, 1941 – February 4, 2008)

Larry J. Cruz was a Filipino Restaurateur who is said to have transformed the casual dining experience in the country with his many theme restaurants.  He founded the LJC Restaurant Group which carries his legacy of style, taste and passion for the good life which to him meant living well within one’s means and with things one loved most.  He served as president of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines for several terms where he helped helm the successful series of Chefs on Parade. His pursuit for excellence in his creations earned him the respect of the food industry. He is remembered  to have pioneered theme and concept restaurants and the man who shaped Philippine Café Society.
