Legislation/Government Liaison

National/municipal regulations sometimes impact/impede your profit line and the way you run your operation. You can be sure your views will be heard by our national policy makers. HRAP maintains high-level dialogues with national policy-making bodies to promote your interests. We constantly monitor legislation coming from both chambers: thru meetings with the Senate and the Congress.

HRAP actively resists attempts to impose regulations on the industry whenever these run contrary to hotel and restaurant interests.

Education and Training

The HRAP plans and undertakes projects geared toward vocational training and manpower development along skills required by the hospitality industry. It also serves as a liaison with institutions, schools and organizations engaged in manpower education and training.

This committee helps keep the Association members informed with respect to new developments and trends to improve health and safety measures being implemented within the industry. In addition, HRAP monitors laws, rules or ordinances that may be passed in relation to health and food safety concerns.

Tourism & Marketing

This committee was created primarily to liaise with the Department of Tourism and other related private sector organizations with regards international tourism marketing and promotions. Through HRAP’s linkage with the Department of Tourism and the Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation (PCVC), members are able to support and participate in international sales blitzes to promote not only their own properties abroad but also the country’s attractive destinations.

Security, Peace & Order

In view of the rise in both international terrorism and urban crime, travelers are increasingly concerned about security. HRAP, together with other concerned groups, will continue to lobby in favor of greater recognition of the security of the traveling public and demand for measures to maximize traveler safety from our government.

HRAP encourages members to directly maintain close links with all national and municipal agencies charged with security.

Environment

Some sectors allude to poor environmental practices by local hotels and restaurants. To counter this view, HRAP has endorsed the IH&RA initiated “environmental action pack” for hotel properties. Adoption of this tool kit has been promoted to our members. HRAP has also initiated environmental circles nationwide via its EMMRO (Environmental Management Manual for Restaurant Operators) project. Provincial members are also encouraged to implement sound environmental practices in their service operations covering waste minimization, water and energy conservation, and other business ethics. HRAP also encourages its members to apply for ISO 1400 Certification Standards.

Recent partnership with PADCO (Planning & Development Collaborative International) for Philippine Sanitation Alliance Project has made possible the information campaign for member’s choices on alternative approaches and appropriate technology options on waste water treatments for their establishments.
